PEPTIDES.
Before considering a peptide, check the research on that exact product and what you want it to do. Many claims about injury recovery and performance go further than the evidence in people supports.

One category, very different products
Some peptide medicines have established uses, but that doesn't validate a different compound or purpose. The table separates the human findings from the claims they can support. (1) [Weight Loss Medications guide](/hive-mind/weight-loss-medications)
| Compound | Human evidence | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| BPC-157 | Mostly animal studies; small uncontrolled human reports and a two-person safety pilot. (2) (3) | Human healing and long-term safety remain unproven. |
| TB-500 / thymosin beta-4 | A specific thymosin product had short-term tolerability testing. (4) | Does not validate marketed TB-500 or prove injury healing. |
| CJC-1295 | Raised growth-hormone markers in short trials. (5) | No established recovery, strength or longevity benefit. |
| MK-677 | Not a peptide. More fat-free mass without better function in older adults. (6) | Glucose handling worsened; more mass was not a clear functional benefit. |
| Growth hormone | Much lean-mass change was water; most performance outcomes did not clearly improve. (7) | A small sprint benefit did not last after washout. |
| AOD9604 | Published report focused on safety and tolerability. (8) | Does not establish useful fat loss or safety across other routes; commercial ties matter. |
Put it into practice: Ask for the exact molecule, formulation, route and approval status, then controlled human studies of your goal. Check participant numbers and follow-up: hormone or animal findings don't prove healing, and a tiny safety study can't rule out delayed harms. (4) (1) (3)
Check approval and contents
The TGA warns about unapproved online peptides, adverse events and uncertain product contents or sterility. A product's potential benefit and possible harms need separate assessment. TGA peptide warning
Put it into practice: Get persistent pain or reduced function assessed first. Take the product claims to a qualified clinician and ask about established alternatives and monitoring for your diagnosis.
Check sport rules
Several marketed compounds are prohibited under anti-doping rules. A seller's assurance isn't enough to establish that a product is allowed. WADA Prohibited List
Put it into practice: Check official current advice if you compete. Keep rehabilitation and a gradual return to training central, adapting exercise and food intake around your recovery.
